Nugget 8: 11th Graders using transmitters to answers questions

Mr. Marc Reif’s 11th grade class from Fayetteville High School, Fayetteville, Arkansas is using technology in the classroom provided by our research group.

These pictures show students answering multiple choice questions in the classroom using personalized transmitters. The software, developed at UA, allows the student responses to be graded. This transforms the classroom environment from a "transfer of knowledge" setting to an interactive and engaging environment. The instructor asks questions which test if the students read the material for the day’s lecture, test if the students understand concepts, and test if the students can work out quantitative problems.

UA graduate students go into the high school classroom and install the hardware, software, and provide training for the instructor.
